A couple of years ago, a group of friends got together to create a group to buy, sell, and trade. This original group is now dwarfed by more than four thousand members. While it does open up to many more buyers and sellers, it has caused stress on the original members who are now admins of such a large group. Please be nice to the admin, they are all volunteers with jobs and families.

We are a minimum rules group for adults.
We don't make you put your pics in specific folders.
We DO NOT mediate between parties.
We don't force you to meet in certain places or at certain time.
Nor many of the other rules that most groups enforce.
Every rule that we enforce is from dire necessity which was developed over time and decided upon by the founding group members.
If you have a problem with someone report it to an admin as shown on the cover photo (Admin do not respond to wall posts).
We have ALWAYS had a three strikes rule. Three individual complaints can be grounds for removal from the group. A panel of ten admins will decide (three public admins and seven hidden admins). These complaints must be reported via the Facebook's report post, private message to admin, or email to info@freeporthappenings.com. Comments on the group wall DO NOT count.
If you are having a problem with another group member, do not attack the person on the group wall. Nor should you attack an admin because you're angry. Any admin can remove a group member for attacks without contacting the person or another admin.

ADMINS ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR TRANSACTIONS BETWEEN THE PARTIES INVOLVED. ALL LIABILITY IS HELD BY THE SELLER AND BUYER IN EACH TRANSACTION.

We reserve the right to delete ANY POSTING.

PLEASE NEVER SEND MONEY VIA WESTERN UNION. ONLY UTILIZE FACE-TO-FACE TRANSACTIONS. IF THEY DON'T WANT TO MEET YOU FACE-TO-FACE OR THEY WANT YOU TO SEND THE MONEY TO THEM FIRST: IT IS A SCAM!

THIS GROUP WAS CREATED TO HAVE THE LEAST AMOUNT OF RULES POSSIBLE; HOWEVER, AFTER A TIME WE REALIZED THAT WE CAN'T PROTECT PEOPLE WITHOUT A FEW RULES.

Do we delete posts? This is the policy for removing posts.

1. Admins receive three or more complaints from separate individuals from group about a post.

2. Admin will contact owner of post to work out a compromise

3. If no compromised is worked out, post MAY be deleted and the user MAY be removed

*Admins will ban drama inciting individuals at each admin's discretion.

We REALLY can't believe that we have to put this in writing; however, you can't advertise sex on this group.

Group members will be deleted immediately with no warnings for hate speech.

7. No more than one post daily to Discussion Board.

This does not pertain to the new "Sale Something" postings

You can upload as many items as you want to the group; however, you may on make one wall post daily. More than ONE post daily will be considered spamming the group, this includes "bumping" multiple posts or "commenting for the purpose of bumping the post". Multiple pictures added to one folder is considered one posting.

8. No malicious advertisements for other groups are allowed.

It's just rude. Doing this will cause member to be removed from the group without notice.

You may create one post on at the time on the group. You can bump that post or add new photos to the post's album but you can ONLY have ONE posting on the group at the time. You may be BANNED for disregarding this new rule.

A helpful hint increase sales and Facebook visibility for local business owners:

It is helpful for your sales if you create your own Facebook page or group then share a link from it to the sale sites then comment on the link with specific sales items and specials. Commenting on the link with "bump" your link to the top of the group. This will give you a greater ability to share more items in a user friendly format and will increase your visibility to other Facebook users in the area. We can help you set up a Facebook page/group if you are unfamiliar with the process.

You can post pets to this site

You will, from this point forward, be "BANNED" from the group if you attack someone for selling his or her pet. This is not a forum for whether or not you think it is appropriate for someone to give up a pet; it is a "Buy, Swap, & Sell" group. If you post a pet to this group and are attacked, please report the post. An admin committee will decide the attacking posters fate in the group. Because this is such a rampant problem, it will not be subject to the three strike policy.

Allowing people to list dogs is a service we offer to prevent abandoned pets. Every year in the U.S., there is an estimated 6 to 8 million abandoned unwanted dogs and cats. We offer a place for people to adopt pets keeping them off the streets and out of shelters. We do watch these posting for suspicious activity.
